Mastering Curved Arches with Precision-Engineered Flush Sash Frames

Installer: Image Windows East Yorkshire Ltd
Stevenswood Trade Counter: Hull

The Brief

This project presented a unique technical challenge: a sympathetic extension incorporating non-true arches and a fully circular window, all requiring precise fabrication to ensure perfect alignment with the existing building fabric. The installer needed flush sash windows that could follow complex curves while maintaining crisp sightlines, consistent detailing, and a traditional aesthetic.

Accuracy was paramount.

Products Supplied

  • REHAU TOTAL70C Flush Sash Windows

    • Creamgrain external finish

    • White internal finish

    • Arched flush casement windows

    • Square flush casement windows

    • Astragal bars throughout for added character

  • REHAU TOTAL70C

  • Circular window

  • Solidor Composite Door

    • Solid timber core construction

    • Traditional styling to complement the glazing

The Challenge

Unlike standard arched frames, the openings in this extension were not true or symmetrical. Each curve varied subtly, requiring careful surveying, close coordination with the fabricator, and absolute confidence in the system’s ability to accommodate bespoke shaping.

The fully circular window was particularly demanding — a statement feature that left no margin for error. Matching this perfectly with the surrounding flush casements, both in profile depth and sightline, was essential to achieve a cohesive result.

The Stevenswood Solution

Working closely with Image Windows East Yorkshire Ltd, the Hull trade counter provided detailed support throughout the order process — ensuring every frame was manufactured to exact specifications.

The REHAU TOTAL70C flush sash system proved ideal for the project, offering the flexibility required for complex shaping while delivering a traditional timber-look finish. The addition of astragal bars elevated the overall design, reinforcing period charm without compromising performance.

By supplying both the specialist glazing and the entrance door through one trusted trade counter, Stevenswood helped streamline the project from specification through to installation.
